Elk Grove resident James Cook has announced his candidacy for the 10th Assembly
District seat held by Alan Nakanishi, R-Lodi.
Cook will face Kevin Tate, who lives in the Vineyard area of South Sacramento,
for the Democratic nomination and the right to face Nakanishi in the November
general election.
Cook works in the parole division of the California Department of Corrections
and retired from the Marines in 2002 after 31 years, including 24 in the
reserves and seven on active duty. He is a former physical education teacher and
wrestling coach for the Elk Grove Unified School District.
